12th April 2010 First Club Run of the year to The Yorkshire Dales Five riders set off from Beverley on a clear, if somewhat chilly morning to tour the Yorkshire Dales (or at least some of them) Steve had problems getting started at Beverley but caught up at Fimber where we stopped for a cuppa. His engine wasn't happy however and was leaking oil badly so he abandoned the run. I joined the group at Fimber having had difficulty getting up that morning (2.00 am getting to bed didn't help) It was then non stop up through Thirst, Layburn and Aysgarth to a lunchtime stop at Grassington. Dave, who had ridden up from Batley joined us on the way. After lunch we found our way back via Skipton, Harrogate and York. It was a great day out and a good start to the season. The sun shone all day even though it remained chilly. John (Doncaster) clocked 238 miles door to door. |
