Lincolnshire Rally 4th 5th and 6th June 2010 I contacted Keith to see what plans he had made for attending the rally. He stated that his intention was to travel down on Friday evening and stay over on the Friday and Saturday nights. I therefore arranged to go for the day on Saturday and planned to meet Keith upon my arrival. At 0830 hrs I was on my way arriving at Woodland Waters at 1015 hrs. My rear end was a bit painful as I had not bothered to stop on route. Over came Keith a politely informed me that the run out was starting at 1030 hrs. Despite my painful rear I elected to join the thirty or so riders on what turned out to be a really great run. With so many riders taking part, each junction required the person riding behind the leader to stop and point the direction to those following until the tail ender came along. This ensured no one got separated even though we were strung out over a considerable distance at times. The sixty mile circumnavigation of Grantham is shown below. Our first stop was at Belvoir Castle where refreshments were available. Then it was on to Chomley Arms at Burton-le-Coggles for lunch. It was here that I decided to head off up the A1 to return to Doncaster. Bill Rodgers, the run leader, thought it would be about 1530 hrs before they got back to Woodland Waters and as I had a dinner engagement that evening, returning straight home would be my best option. Leaving at 1400 hrs, I headed back along the A151 to join the A1 south of Grantham. The first sign post with Doncaster on stated that it was 58 miles. I opened up the Enfield and found that at sixty mph she ran very smoothly without exerting herself. Thus I plodded on even overtaking Lorries, Camper Vans and Caravans. By 1530 hrs I was pulling into my drive having covered 184 miles. I had had a splendid day as I am sure Keith had. John Brookes
